Why don't you decide right now that you're working from home,
and I'll drive you to and fro. Easy decision.

It turns out the attendees were:

Marc Dashevsky
Cheryl Isaacs & husband
Mark Hertel
Dan Logcher and Susan and Amanda
Al Sherman
Steve Stein
Larry Weissman

It was a great turnout and I really enjoyed meeting and reconnecting
with everyone. I think the lunch buffet is a real bargain -- we each
paid $9.00 total. The service was efficient and polite with empty
plates being removed promptly and unobtrusively. I loved the variety
of food, although I wish that the middle of the spice spectrum was
better represented, most dishes were either "not hot" or "blazing."
I never had a chance to try the two curries because they were down
to sauce and potatoes and weren't refilled whenever I made it to
the serving area. My biggest problem though was that the food was
generally lukewarm, a bit surprising given that we started eating
at 11:45, not after lunch had been running for hours. It was still
a nice dining experience and I'd definitely go again.

It was a great outing. Always a good time to see friends and meet
new people. Steve, sorry we couldn't fit you at our table..

The food was excellent, as usual. The dishes do seem to cover the
extremes more than the middle. A few dishes are somewhere in there,
like the curry I believe. The temperature could be addressed with a polite
phone call. Chanthip is the person to talk to, as she runs the restaurant.

I hope we can do that again soon.

Yes, hence my frustration with having an opportunity
for only the bottom of the barrel on them.

Did you have a problem with the lukewarmedness of the food?

I think the buffet caters more for the hot-heads, but offers non-hot
so others can enjoy. They do serve medium hot dishes, which I order
off the menu when getting take out.

Hard to say because there are so many items in the buffet, I spoon
out a little and move on.. by the time I get back to the table the
little spoon fulls cool a bit. I think I would have noticed more if
I wasn't eating the blazing hot items.

Does this mean one of the attendees had to sit alone? Not that it's any of
my business...just sounds odd.

No, he did get company (one of the Marks) and we really did try to get Steve
to pull up a chair! I guess next time, we need a bigger table!

Just off to the side a bit.. Next time I suggest grabbing the tables in
the back. There's plenty of room to add another table, and its closer
to the food :)

It was certainly a pleasure to meet you folks and to enjoy the SE Asian
"cuisine". I probably made my usual mistake of diving into the "blazing hot"
dishes before I could appreciate the subtleties of the milder offerings, but
to me that is the SE Asian experience.

I find the SEA very consistent and predictable. For those who haven't been
there, the buffet menu and descriptions are at
http://www.foodventure.com/Buffet.ASP# .
Not that I am tired of SEA, but I'd like to try some other
Vietnamese/Cambodian places and there is now quite a few new
ones along Rt 110 between Crosspoint and downtown Lowell that
weren't there 6 years ago. Anyone have any experience with
these for lunch - which to try and any to avoid? In any other
part of town?
I am certainly in agreement with Kyle. Buffets are a great opportunity to
sample different dishes. Are there other buffets to consider in the area?
