Well, I got some great advice asking about lobster, so here's another:
everywhere else I've been in the US, fried mozzarella sticks are
served with marinara suace, or maybe some kind of dressing. When I
lived in the Albany, NY area, many places served them with raspberry
sauce. When I described this to my wife and daughter (both from
California) that thought I was nuts, but when we came east a couple of
years ago, we had it in a place in Troy and they loved it!

So, in a few weeks, I'll be back east on vacation, hitting NYC, West
Hartford, and Boston/Cambridge. Any recommendations of restaurants in
any of those places that serve this?

In general, I love the food in Southern California, but there's a few
things we can't get out here (without mail order) like Drakes cakes
(Yodels, Ring Dings, and Devil Dogs are far superior to Hostess), NY
pizza and bagels, and Friendly's (looking forward to a Jim Dandy)!
Oh, and we have Kellogs and Poptarts, but they don't sell any
blueberry Poptarts out here, and the only unfrosted strawberry
Poptarts are the low-fat. Gotta love marketting!

Thanks in advance!

Oh - how strange. But it could work - not a sweet sauce I presume

No blueberry poptarts - oh no - my favorite!

Nope - it was a sweet sauce. Lots of pizza sauce is very sweet.

Still no suggestions?

Yep - unfrosted blueberry Poptarts (untoasted, too!) were both my
wife's and my favorite growing up. I've actually gotten quite
proficient at removing the frosting from Poptarts, but it's not
the same :^)

Sadly no - I'd try it once.
