Can anyone recommend (or name) an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant.
South of Boston (I am on Cape Cod would be preferable.

I frequented one in NYC which was quite good - large selection an d
all made to order - not buffet style. Longing for a sushi gorge.

I know of two. Neither is south of Boston. One is Sushi Corner in Melrose, MA.
$25.95 AYCE, including uni, but not including anything on the specials board.
Fresh, large selection, made to order, not buffet style, like you mentioned
above. Sunday through Thursday evenings only. Caveat: Last time I went was a
Thursday evening. He was REALLY busy. My dinner took at least 3 hours. I like
to take my time, but not that long.

Then there's Minado, a Japanese buffet out in Natick. Never been there.. it's
kind of pricy for a buffet, but I heard the sushi's good, as well as the other
food. There's a review or two on ne.food... try google.

http://www.minado.com/

I heard there's a couple of good Japanese restaurants on the Cape.. but I guess
they don't offer AYCE.

I have their AYCE special approximately monthly, and have had many, many
things from the specials menu, as well as the non-sushi regular menu, and
it was all covered.

I've heard a secondhand report that it's now Wednesday and Thursday
evenings only; he does seem to change the details of the offer from time
to time, although if this latest report is correct, it strikes me as weird.

I've run into that as well. It's really my only complaint with the
place; the fish is generally good. (I've given up going there with large
groups, and it helps a lot with the wait, though not always.)

He's been changing the parameters for years. It goes away, it comes back.
The day changes, the price changes.

Like the time we had a 14 people outing there, most of us eating the AYCE.
Actually that wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't do it again anyways.

Sounds more like logistics issue from weekend inventory.

BTW, my apologies to Dan and other students for not being able to have a
make-up. Unexpected family issue came up.

It seems like he stops doing it when he has a lot of business, then reinstates
it when it gets slow again. Or maybe he's trying to throw a curve to people
who only go for the AyCE nights.

I understand. We'll have that dinner next time you're in town.

Well, these were new rules the last time I was in there (2 or 3 weeks ago).
Anything off the regular sushi menu, but nothing off the specials board. So, I
was denied ankimo and super white tuna.

Would make more sense to have it Monday and Tuesday nights, since those are the
slow nights.

I once had a really large group there.. we filled the restaurant.. but I got
complaints from the owner plus I got charged for rice I didn't eat or something
like that.. so I didn't go back for a really long time.. like almost a year.

Think I might go there tomorrow night for AYCE. Of course, I'll call first,
just to make sure. :)
