I recently had dinner at a place called the Best Little Restaurant on
Tyler Street in Chinatown. I totally recommend it! They have
authentic Chinese food of the type I'd only had in people's homes,
like steamed whole chicken on the bone, cut into chunks. The beef egg
drop soup, was good, and they served a really interesting bass and
steamed vegetable dish where the fish came in bite-sized pieces.

It's a little tricky to find, since they don't have a sign showing
their full name in English. (It looks like they designed a banner
using some software, which inadvertently cut off all the English
except part of the word "Best".) But if you know to look for a place
a few steps below street level, it's not that hard.

I've heard great things about this place -- specifically their pork
belly, IIRC -- before, but have never seen it (no doubt I've walked by
it). I'll look for it.

We've been going to New Golden Gate which is opposite side of the street
from Grand Chau Chow.. maybe a little closer to the gate. They have some
really interesting dishes. They are always very busy, which I guess is a
good thing. I'd rather they be busy then empty..
