The usual answer is Legal Seafoods in Chestnut Hill. Not flashy, not cheap,
but very consistent. Legal has an in-house fish wholesale operation which lets
them maintain the consistent quality.

I've never had a meal at Legal's that knocked my socks off, but I've also never
had one that wasn't good.

I used to hear Captain Marden's restaurant in Wellesley was good.
I've never been, and it's been a while but it has 4 of 5 star Yelp
rating:

Hey Dan, it's good to see this little spasm of life in ne.food.
John, I guess there's no need for ne.food.selected any more.

It's nice to get local shrimp, scallops, crab and oysters (grilled and raw).
I'll eat crawfish, but at a boil I prefer the potatoes, corn, garlic and
sausage. Of course there are many great bisques and gumbos with many of the
above ingredients. The Hi Hat has an unbelievable oyster/fennel soup.
(In fact I just found this article about it: http://tinyurl.com/ko24u4q)

I miss lobster and clams, particularly fried, but the restaurant Peche
always has a couple selections of raw northern clams. I haven't sought
out gulf/lake fish, but what I've had doesn't impress me as much as
the salmon, swordfish or bluefish I'd eat up north.

I've never had gulf coast oysters. How do they compare to East coast?

I'm hoping this years fishing season is better than last year. The strange
weather last season made it hard to track the stripers, and very short run on
bluefish.

Any plans on coming back for a visit?
